Montessori's strong programming for ages 3 -6 sometimes results in reduced recognition of the elementary and adolescent programs. Dr. Montessori started observing young children and developed a curriculum based on their brain development. However, she didn't stop there. The elementary program (grades 1-6) builds on the strong primary foundation allowing children to explode with curiosity and knowledge. Adolescent children (grades 7-9) move into a new plane of development accentuated by the quest to find their place in our larger society.
North Shore Montessori School’s addition of the Adolescent Program in 2017 punctuates our commitment to the full Montessori educational continuum. As our school continues to grow we look forward to seeing the children move through each plane of development, maximizing their potential, finding their passions, and growing into contributing members of society who not only love to learn, but have a solid sense of self.
