Deep Respect

Children are given deep respect from all adults. We are constantly modeling the expected behaviors and teaching through action. Courtesy, manners, and civility are skills that serve children well in life and therefore are taught and modeled from the very beginning.  We create warm and supportive communities!

Holistic

We look at students from a holistic perspective, and support their social, emotional, and academic progress. Lessons are woven together in an interdisciplinary fashion. Art, music, and physical education presentations are taught alongside the other curriculum, and are accessible daily so students may explore and practice all subjects in depth and in real-world contexts.

Spanish Language & Culture

Spanish language and culture is part of every day in every classroom. It starts with listening to the language through song and literature, and continues by learning about culture and arts, exploring recipes and music, and culminates into formalized lessons in our Upper Elementary level. The study of a second language is an essential element in helping students to develop an international perspective.

Nature Based

Children spend time outdoors daily, unless the weather is dangerously inclement. Our natural Playscape, quietly nestled behind the school, fosters creativity, love and respect for nature. The North Garden is home to raised beds, fruit trees, composting, and games and activities after school. Montessori children learn to feel at home in the natural world.

Safety

We pride ourselves in offering a small and tight knit community, with a school culture that is positive and tolerant. We have access control security, comprehensive emergency plans, and all staff members are trained in first aid. We closely follow guidance from state and local officials and health authorities as we strive to maintain our safe and healthy school environment.

Mindfulness

Within a Montessori environment,  there exists a myriad of opportunities that promote and reflect mindful experiences. Staff share mindfulness lessons with children during the day, uniting them in a common practice that encourages self care and respect for others. Montessori children are known for their warmth, kindness, self-confidence, and respect for others, and for all life. We teach peace.

Collaboration

Montessori students learn to see mistakes as natural steps in the learning process. Our students learn through collaboration and work together on major projects and the greater good of their classroom environment. Students strive for their personal best, rather than competing against each other.

"I have studied the child. I have taken what the child has given me and expressed it and that is what is called the Montessori method."
